New Derby Half Marathon added to Run For All’s 2018 event calendar

Thousands of runners are set to take on a new Run For All challenge in 2018 – as the organisation announces a new half marathon in Derby.

The not-for-profit organisation is taking over the staging of the event formerly known as the Ramathon.

Run For All aims to build on the success of the event, which already attracts thousands of runners every year.

This year’s event – to be known as the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon – will take place on Sunday 3rd June and entries are open now at www.runforall.com.

To celebrate the launch of the new event, participants who enter in the next week can take part for the discounted price of just £25!

Run For All is part of the lasting legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE, who raised almost £2m for charity through a series of endurance challenges despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.

Its stable of events already includes successful 10Ks in Leeds, Lincoln, Sheffield, York, Hull, Burnley, Bury, Leicester, King’s Lynn and Nottingham, the Leeds Half Marathon, Sheffield Half Marathon, Hull Half Marathon and the Yorkshire 10 Mile and Yorkshire Marathon in York.

The Asda Foundation is the headline sponsor of all Run For All events and the Ramathon will be renamed the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon

As in previous years, the half marathon will leave Pride Park Stadium and head into city centre, going through Market Place and past the cathedral before heading back along London Road. Elvaston Castle Country Park will remain a key feature of the route. The key organiser of the event in previous years will also be working alongside Run For All to deliver the event in future years.

Run For All Events Manager Tristan Batley-Kyle said: “We are delighted to be given the opportunity to take on the running of such an excellent event.  We look forward to working with everyone involved to make the Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon a huge success.”

Mandy Rivett, Asda Foundation Coordinator, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to add another exciting half marathon to the Asda Foundation series. The events that make up the series are already highly regarded and the addition of Derby will further enhance that reputation and provide a great new challenge for runners and fundraisers.”

Entrants can run for fun, for a personal challenge or for a good cause of their choice. They are especially encouraged to support the event’s official partner charities which will be announced shortly.

Entries for the Derby Half Marathon on Sunday 3rd June are now open at www.runforall.com.
