Police officers in Ilkeston are trying to identify the vandals responsible for causing damage at a newly refurbished bandstand.

Officers were called the Victoria Park, Manners Road, just before 6.30pm on Sunday, February 12 by a witness who reported teenagers damaging the bandstand.

Those attending found that glass windows had been smashed and paintwork and woodwork damaged.

PCSO Matt Lewis of Ilkeston Town Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “I’m saddened to see that a community facility that has only recently been refurbished to a very high standard, and which was a focal point for the community, has been vandalised.  I’d like anyone with information to contact me.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PCSO Lewis on 101, quoting reference 17000062402.
