Bob Staveley£25m is being invested to prevent a local river from bursting its banks. The Environment Agency hopes to prevent flooding on a 17 mile stretch of water along the Lower River Derwent including an area to the south of Draycott, Borrowash and Breaston. Work is to begin in five years time on improving flood defences with the next three years given over to collecting ideas on how to spend the money from communities affected.
Borough residents have been contributing to a public consultation this week.
