The local First Responders Group are seeking volunteers. Organised by the Church Wilne Rotary Club and trained by the East Midlands Ambulance Service, volunteers are equipped with and trained on the use of essential medical equipment to be able to respond early to localised calls for help before paramedics arrive. To set up the new group, the Rotary Club will raise funds for the kit required. For more information, contact Colin Orrick on Derby 666865.
Church Wilne First Responders have been given £2,000 to buy essential life saving equipment. Borough Councillor Robert Parkinson made the presentation recently on behalf of the borough council. The money came from the County Council's Members' Community Leadership Scheme. In addition, the group also received a further boost when the former chairman of the Church Wilne Probus Club, Maurice Adcock donated £132.
The Rotary Club of Church Wilne host their fourth annual horse ride through Locko Park, Dale Abbey and Spondon on Sunday 13th September. The event has already helped to raise £7,000 for Rainbows Hospice, MacMillan Cancer Support and the Newcastle Bubble Appeal. Visit www.churchwilnerotary.org.uk for more details.
