Mark AthertonThe future of a showband working in and around the Erewash area has been assured after the merger of organisations in Eastwood and Cotmanhay.
Formerly known as the Eastwood Arcadians, and now as a joint venture between Eastwood and Cotmanhay members it is now called the Arcadians Showband. Practice sessions are held in Eastwood on a Tuesday night at Plumtree Hall off Church Street and Thursday nights in the hall at Bennerley Business & Enterprise College on Bennerley Avenue. The newly merged band is now recruiting members in both areas, both for playing and non-playing.
Any one wishing to learn can come along to any of the venues and have a try-out. Help is also needed in fundraising initiatives to purchase new instruments and uniforms. If you have instruments lying around spare, donations are always welcome to minimise or completely remove band shortages. The aim of the band is to give people of all ages a new or renewed pastime, and give an enjoyable experence during performances.
