The team, who also cover Hallam Fields and Stanton by Dale, visited the children to talk about safety and the role of a police officer. Sam Sargent, manager of West Point House Day Nursery in Hallam Fields, said: “PC Louise Stevenson and PCSO Steve Bowlzer visited the children to talk about their role in the local community. The children have recently been learning about the people who help to protect them and about their own safety, so it was great for them to find out more about the police. The children had a lovely time and they haven’t stopped talking about it. They especially enjoyed sitting in the police van and trying on the officers’ helmets.”
PC Louise Stevenson added: “The children have behaved very well and now they know a little bit more about the work of the police. It is important that the children know who we are and that we can be trusted if they need help or someone to talk to. We hope that all the children would now feel more comfortable approaching us when we’re out patrolling in the community.”
