Local Resident Receives Recognition After 30 Years Of Conservation Work
An Ockbrook resident who leads the local Hopwell Shoot has received recognition for 30 years worth of conservation work. Dr. Robert Hedley hosts the shoot in the grounds of his home in Hopwell, and over the years has launched a number of initiatives including restoring hawthorn hedges and creating two new ponds for wild duck. Dr. Hedley attended a ceremony hosted by gun-makers Purdey Game for the Purdey Game Conservation Awards 2009 where he was presented with a certificate.
The awards aim to recognise and encourage imaginative projects which improve the habitat for both reared and wild game birds as well as improving biodiversity of shoots and the surrounding countryside.
