Message In A Bottle

A scheme to make vital medical information readily available in the event of an emergency is taking off in Erewash, thanks to funding support from Erewash Borough Council.  The ‘Message in a Bottle’ scheme, which has been organised in Erewash by the Long Eaton Lions Club, helps individuals who feel most vulnerable to have necessary medical evidence inside a special bottle in their home, such as:repeat prescriptions; contact details of carers and/or family members; information about any pets that need looking after if you get taken into hospital; and; information on any known allergies.

The scheme also provides the individual with a sticker for their window to show the emergency services that they have a ‘Message in a Bottle’.  The details in the bottle could be of real assistance to the emergency services as they attempt to assess the medical situation quickly and accurately.   Residents in Breaston, Draycott, Long Eaton, Risley and Sawley, will benefit from this scheme thanks to the Long Eaton Lions Club, who obtained part of their funding from Erewash Borough Council. The funding of £750 was awarded through the Community and Voluntary Fund.
