As many businesses have shut down and paused their activity amid the Covid19 crisis, Derby-based Sky Recruitment Solutions and sister company Capella Professional have signed on the dotted line with Poppy-PR as part of its 'green shoots' approach.

The Leicestershire PR company, with roots in Derbyshire, will provide public relations and social media services to the team.

David Torrington is managing director of Sky Recruitment Solutions, which is building a reputation in Derbyshire as the 'go to' industrial recruitment agency for all temporary and permanent staffing needs.

He believes in bouncing back and that firms need to ensure that they have the right team in place to be on the starting blocks once the lockdown is over, plus the right strategy for temporary staff as business starts to pick up again.

David said: “I’d like to think that Sky Recruitment Solutions has always been considered as a forward-thinking, positive and creative recruitment business throughout Derby and Derbyshire – rather than conform to the ‘same old, same old’, our business is built on offering bespoke solutions to clients across the region, and adapting to their needs.

“I doubt there has ever been more of a need to adapt staffing strategies, and review suppliers, than under the current circumstances.”

The company was founded in 2014, and boasts over 30 years’ experience in recruitment.  The company has one solid aim to become Derby and Derbyshire’s first ‘world class’ recruiter - working to the highest compliance standards possible, and ensuring that the region’s employers have access to the very best candidates.

Speaking of the move to partner up with Poppy-PR in these challenging times, David added: “We want to raise our profile - both now, and when the lockdown restrictions are lifted.

“Poppy PR is a local business, like us, and we want to support local businesses and work in collaboration. Poppy PR is full of ideas and innovation, which reflects my own ethos.”

Tina Clough set up Poppy PR 10 years ago, and was awarded the Young Achiever of the Year title at the English Women’s Awards in 2018.

Tina, who also teaches a PR module at Nottingham Trent University, said it was not all doom and gloom on the business front during the current crisis.

She said: "Here at Poppy-PR, we are seeing some fantastic movements from businesses who are taking on board the positives, and using the crisis to look in depth at the overall picture. Many of our clients are using this time to ensure that they have the right staff to take them forward post-lockdown, and create those all-important marketing strategies.

"I have for many years spoken about the importance of PR and marketing during the last recession and always fall back on research that demonstrates the importance of such.  In a recession or downturn, many businesses will relax or put a halt to marketing initiatives, which renders them invisible.  It creates a huge gap for these who wish to remain visible.

“Research also demonstrates that those who advertise during a recession continue to make growth for up to five years, after it has subsided."

Tina added: “We are delighted that David has chosen to work with us during this challenging time. From the moment we first met, it became clear that we hold the same forward-thinking approach to business and we are very much looking forward to creating some fantastic PR for him.”
