18th/19th October: Charity Burlesque Evening

Published on: Friday, 5th April 2019

The owner of a Burlesque Dance Group - Burlesquercise - based in Ilkeston, is working with colleagues to put on a two-night fundraiser in October.

Amy Parkes is staging another 'Charity Burlesque Evening', this time, to raise money and awareness for the MS Society.   Last year, over £4,000 was raised for Mind and Calm Mental Health charities.  Now the drive is stepping up a gear to boost ticket sales and make more money for the nominated charity this year.

The event is taking place at The Seven Oaks Marquee in Stanton, Ilkeston over 2 nights: Friday 18th October & Saturday 19th October 2019.

Many acts will be involved ranging from professional Burlesque performers, to drag queens and fire dancers, Martini Glass Performers, jazz singers and sax players and of course, the  lovely and very brave ladies who take part in burlesquercise classes throughout the week which are held locally for ordinary women who struggle with self confidence and would just like to feel good in thier on skin again.  It is an empowering dance genre for women who can celebrate their bodies and not be judged for it and features woman ranging from 18 to 72 years of age.

VIP tickets cost £24 each including a front row seat and with glass of prosecco on arrival, whilst standard tickets cost £15 on tables of up to 12 people.   Tickets can be obtained by calling Amy Parkes on 07496 915151, or by visiting the public 'Burlesquercise' page on Facebook.
