Apprentices start work with County Council

Published on: Wednesday, 18th September 2019

The County Council Cabinet Member for Council Services, Councillor Angelique Foster has welcomed 11 young people who have just started a business administration apprenticeship with the authority.

During September and October more than 60 young people will start their apprenticeships in a wide variety of occupations.  These include surveying, horticulture, ICT, trading standards, roadworking, civil engineering, health and social care and catering.

Councillor Foster said: "Creating opportunities for young people is a key aim for the council and I’m pleased that we have so many newcomers taking advantage of this opportunity.

“Apprenticeships offer a real alternative to college or university and are a great way for a young person to get a start on the career ladder.

“These apprentices will join 220 who started with the council since May 2017 and I’m pleased that we have been able to create so many opportunities.”
