Arts funding opportunity (Deadline 31/03/21)

Published on: Thursday, 26th November 2020

Are you involved in local arts or a local artist looking for extra financial help?  Erewash Borough Council are encouraging those involved in all things creative in the borough to apply for funding to help with their creative initiatives.

If you are a local arts professional, community group, individual or arts organisation within the borough you can apply for a small arts grant of up to £800 to help projects that will benefit Erewash residents.

Previous successful recipients who have benefited from the funding include:

  • Fibro Active - a Long Eaton based support group for people with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and their carers.  Fibro Active is a positive and inclusive group that focuses on healthy lifestyle, light exercise, support and sharing information.  The group were recently awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services.
  • Spiral Arts - a visual arts group who work with the community on a variety of creative projects.  They work at venues across Derbyshire with people of all ages, ethnicities, backgrounds and levels of ability.  Spiral artists favourite art forms are textiles - printing, batik, weaving; well dressings and large scale sculptures and structures.
  • Long Eaton Art Room - a voluntary organisation that believes anyone can benefit from the therapeutic qualities of art and craft making.  They run community workshops with the focus on providing services accessible to all, including working with disadvantaged people to help them play a fuller role in the community.

The grants are available each year and applications are being accepted up until Wednesday  31 March 2021, the funding available is limited and once the budget has been allocated for the year the grant programme will be closed so early applications are encouraged. Small grants are on offer to not-for-profit organisations, voluntary groups and charities to support the development of arts and culture.

Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, Councillor Mike Wallis, said: “These grants go a long way in helping local arts within the borough and are very popular so if you feel you or your group could benefit from a helping hand please apply now.”
