Businesses encouraged to do their bit for local hospice nurses

Local businesses are being encouraged to show their support for a local end-of-life charity by sponsoring a week of nursing care for families in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Treetops Hospice provides support from diagnosis onwards for patients with conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease and heart and respiratory conditions.

Last year, Treetops team of over 40 Hospice at Home nurses provided more than 23,800 hours of care to terminally-ill patients – and now they’re offering organisations in the area the chance to show they care with the launch of the Sponsor One Week of Nursing Care.  Under the scheme, businesses pledge to raise £7,000 to sponsor one week of Hospice at Homes nurses caring for patients at end of life in their own homes.

Lucy Robinson, of East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, said: “Nowadays, it is not enough for a business just to provide jobs.  Whether you’re a customer, employee or partner, people want to know that a company cares and it’s not just about profit.

“Treetops Hospice provides a number of opportunities for businesses to engage in CSR activities and maximise the impact for its communities and the business itself.”

For each week of nursing that is sponsored, Treetops nurses will care for around 23 local people and their families.  This means that they will have the support they need to die in the comfort of their own home with their loved ones around them.

Treetops Business Relationship Manager, Stacey Smalley, said: “We have years of experience developing partnerships here at Treetops and a partnership can be extremely beneficial for everyone.

“We aim to build long-lasting relationships and can help businesses to achieve their objectives and reach their fundraising targets.

“As well as the Sponsor One Week of Nursing Care scheme, we have opportunities for businesses to support us by donating their staff time, resources and expertise, or by taking part in our carbon offsetting and compassionate employer schemes.

We hope that more local businesses will follow their lead and sign up to sponsor our Hospice at Home services.”

Business interested in getting involved should contact Treetops on 0115 9491264 or email fundraising @
