Call to reduce speed limit on road between Sawley and Breaston

Published on: Wednesday, 12th August 2020

Sawley Parish Council has unanimously agreed to ask Derbyshire County Council to review the speed limit on the stretch of road at the end of Draycott Road running up to Breaston.

The request follows reports of near misses between vehicles and walkers / cyclists.  The road is also used by horse riders and in recent weeks two cars have come off the road on the bends near the water reservoir.  There is no pedestrian path along this road.

The Parish Council is calling for County Highways to review the speed limit, with a view to reducing it from the present national speed limit of 60mph.

Members expressed a strong view that 60pmh is far too fast for that stretch of road.
