Connecting Erewash Fortnight (4th - 16th July)

Erewash Voluntary Action in partnership with the many fantastic Erewash groups and organisations are hosting a Connecting Erewash Fortnight from 4th – 16th July 2022. Several community events will be taking place across the district, and everybody is welcome to come along and participate. Entry to all the events is free of charge.

The aim of the Connecting Erewash Fortnight is to help people of all ages find out more about what is on offer in their local area and to ensure there are opportunities for people to build community connections. The Connecting Erewash Fortnight is part of the Erewash Voluntary Action Connect Erewash project funded by Derbyshire County Council Public Health to combat isolation and loneliness.

The fortnight kicks off in Sandiacre on 4th July at Sandiacre Library with an information open day – just pop in between 11am and 5pm to find out about your local groups and organisations!

Two community events will take place at Petersham Hall on 7th and 14th July from 9:00am – 12noon. A programme of activities for residents to take part in will be available. Information stalls will provide details about community groups and organisations in Petersham.

Parkside High CIC are hosting a Youth and Community Fun Day at The POD, formerly Abbotsford Community Centre, Cotmanhay on Saturday 9th July from 10:00am -3:00pm. This will include activities such as street art, volunteer recruitment, crafts, games, a fundraiser car wash and much more!

The Sawley Fun Day takes place on Saturday 9th July from 12noon until 4:00pm on Sawley Park. Organised by the Friends of Sawley Park with a little bit of help from Connect Erewash. This is a fantastic day for all the family with lots of activities and community stalls. A wonderful day for all and a chance to connect and find out more about community groups and organisations in Sawley.

The final event will take place on Saturday 16th July at Kirk Hallam Community Centre from 10am-1pm. This will be a Community Fun Day filled with activities and information for all the family and community to enjoy– Refreshments and food will be available at the Community Café. 

Throughout the fortnight there will also be other smaller activities organised by local groups and organisations across the whole of Erewash – keep an eye out on the Erewash Voluntary Action web page and social media sites!
