County Council closes Country Parks after concern over social distancing

Published on: Sunday, 22nd March 2020

Derbyshire County Council has made the decision to close its country parks with immediate effect as of Sunday 22nd March.

A statement released by the authority on Sunday said that the high number of visitors was making safe social distancing impossible and was putting people at risk.

It also said that the decision was in line with a number of other organisations across the country including the National Trust and other County Councils and said that the decision had been made with profound regret, particularly on Mother’s Day and at a time when exercise is particularly important.

Residents have been encouraged to go for a walk locally, in their family group, keeping a safe distance from others.
