Officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Ream have set speeding, road safety and enforcement as one of their priorities for the second quarter of 2023.

Earlier this month, Derbyshire's Road Crime Unit came to the town, using their specialist resources and training to assist with carrying out targeted traffic stops. The team has already appeared on Channel 5 TV programme Traffic Cops.  Its officers are difficult to identify on the road, using high performance but unmarked vehicles which only become evident when lights and sirens are activated.

Midway through the recent shift in the south of the borough, ar target vehicle was spotted and as was anticipated, made off from police. The vehicle was safety stopped on Longmoor Lane after a short pursuit.

Both the driver and the passenger were arrested for drug offences after a drugs and a significant quantity of cash was found. The drug investigation is ongoing and a court summons will be submitted for the driving offences.
