Erewash Sound - a winner in the 2021 European Enterprise Awards

After securing 11 National Community Radio Awards in 5 years, and being declared 'Radio Station of the Year' in Derbyshire in 2018, the East Midlands in 2019, and with similar accolades in two separate awards in 2020 and 2021, Erewash Sound has picked up yet another honour.

A panel of judges working for the European Enterprise Awards on behalf of EU Business News has declared Erewash Sound as the Local Radio Station of the Year 2021 - Derbyshire.

During the awards process, over 90,000 businesses and corporate professionals, magazine contributors and subscribers were asked to nominate companies & individuals based on factors such as quality of service, innovation, experience, sustainability and other areas.  Additionally, the research team put forward a selection of firms which they felt were deserving of recognition.

After two years of uncertainty across many industries, the economy has been shaken up and slowed many businesses to a halt. However, there are also many SMEs and independent businesses across the continent that have also thrived under these circumstances, and even reported record highs.

Awards Coordinator Kaven Cooper took a moment to reflect on the winners recognised in the programme. “Through the turbulent times in recent years, the nominees and winners have shown their resilience and come out the other side with positives. Congratulations to all the winners, and we wish you the best for the future.”

"EU Business News prides itself on the validity of its awards and winners.  As such, every one of our winners can be certain that their success is deserved.  We carefully evaluate everything from a business’s, or individual’s, performance over the past 12-months to ensure that only the most deserving parties walk away with one of our prestigious awards."

Ian PerryIan Perry is the Press and Publicity spokesperson for Erewash Sound. He said: "As a non-profit making community interest company run almost entirely by volunteers on a 24/7 basis, and during a prolonged period of difficulty caused by the pandemic, being recognised once more for the work carried out in the community is a particular boost for all of the team at Erewash Sound.   The fact that our work in Erewash is being recognised and talked about not just in the UK but across Europe is something we're very proud of.

"We're constantly striving to ensure that we're accountable and responsive to community needs, whether that be in support of local community groups, charities and other non-profit making organisations or promoting businesses and doing business in the area or even the simple but highly effective role in talking about life in the borough.

"Erewash Sound continues to offer a much-needed genuinely local radio service of a type which is quite simply not available from any other radio station that can be heard in the area and we're always being told just how important our output is to local people, however, none of this would be possible wiithout the support from local businesses and, of course, the residents of the borough."
