The success just keeps on coming for Erewash Sound.  In the wake of securing accreditation to deliver NCFE training from within the Academy, and a grant from DHL UK Foundation to install a new state-of-the-art training studio at The Media Centre in Cotmanhay, presenters Jeannie Nicolas, Emma Snow and Mark Jarvis then picked up a handful of awards at the 2018 Community Media Awards.

Now, Erewash Sound has been declared as the Best Local Radio Service in Derbyshire in the SME 2018 Midlands Enterprise Awards.

Returning for its second year, the Midlands Enterprise awards rewards the industrious and hard working individuals and firms hailing from the Midlands region for their innovations in business practice to their outstanding overall performance.

Based in the heart of the England, the Midlands is home to many small businesses who, despite their achievements, are often overlooked for the recognition they so richly deserve. With a current boom in technology companies emerging across the Midlands, the region is one of the most popular for business start-ups in the UK.

Natalie Farrell, Award Coordinator discusses the success of this year’s programme: “Incorporating all traders and businesses in the area, The Midlands Enterprise Awards highlights those companies who drive innovation and competition within their sectors and ensure that the most deserving businesses get to stand in the spotlight.  Congratulations to all my winners and best of luck for the future.”

SME News prides itself on the validity of its awards and winners.  The awards are given solely on merit and are awarded to commend those most deserving for their ingenuity and hard work, distinguishing them from their competitors and proving them worthy of recognition.

Spokesperson for Erewash Sound, Ian Perry said: "2018 has already been yet another truly amazing year for Erewash Sound.  Run 24 hours a day on FM and on-line as a non-profit making community interest company by a largely voluntary team, this is yet another indication of the value of a truly local radio station and another boost for our amazing team.

We continue to offer local businesses a valuable local service to reach their target audience through airtime sales, whilst the social gain achieved through the promotion of and interaction with a string of community groups, voluntary organisations and charities on-air and on-line has been proven to have reaped rewards for them and us on several levels - we couldn't be more delighted and grateful for this latest accolade.

We are now looking forward to next stages of our continued development and further establishment within the Derbyshire borough of Erewash with our application to OFCOM for a second FM transmitter, which we hope to hear about soon, and another separate application to extend our current FM broadcast licence to March 2025."
