Get involved with Ilkeston Hockey Club

Published on: Monday, 16th May 2016

Erewash Sound is pleased to support Ilkeston Hockey Club. 2015 was a difficult year for the club which nearly closed due to a lack of players. 'Back To Hockey' was an intiative run during that difficult year which led to enough players being attracted to the club to create a full team to turn out each week and play in the Derbyshire Hockey League.

For 2016, club officials have signed up once more to a national campaign being run in conjuction with England Hockey which works to encourage adults into playing sport and in particularly, hockey. The sessions are open to men and women and club officials hope to get enough people interested to create a mixed team and be able to call on some subs for the Ladies Team.

More info can be found on the club website, or via englandhockey.co.uk whilst hockey session dates are listed on the Ilkeston Hockey Club Facebook page.

All the sessions are on a drop-in/pay as you go basis. The Ilkeston Hockey Club is the only one within a 5 mile radius of Ilkeston, with the closest other club being in Beeston with another in Derby. Sessions cost just £2 and although there significant interest from local men, club officials would really like to see more ladies join the club. With more members, more teams can be created, both male and female.
