Ilkeston police appeal for help to re-unite medals with their owner

Published on: Wednesday, 12th June 2019

A Police Officer based in Ilkeston is appealing for help in trying to re-unite some medals with their rightful owner.

Two First World War medals – a British War Medal and a Victory Medal - were found in Ilkeston and handed into the police station on Tuesday, June 11.  It is believed they may have been dropped in Repton Drive between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on Monday, June 10.  The same name and service number is engraved on both medals.

Officers are asking people who may have family medals stored, to check their collection to see if any are missing.

PC Charlotte Law is trying to find the owner and said: ”It appears that at least one of the medals is from World War 1 and they must have some sentimental value to the owner.

There are some distinguishing marks that we are not showing that will allow us to help verify ownership so we are asking if anyone recognises them or knows who they belong to, please make contact.”

If you think you can help, please contact Charlotte using any of the following non-emergency contact methods and quoting reference number 19*300636:
