An Ilkeston woman is to have her hair shaved off for charity in memory of family members lost after battling cancer.

Kate Howe said: "My dad died of cancer a while back. I saw the suffering which he went through - not only him suffering but also my family was suffering alongside him.  Not only have I lost my dad I have lost three family members to this horrible disease."

Describing a terrible year, one she said had been horrific for everyone, she referred to charities that depend on fundraising events (many cancelled due to the pandemic) to fund treatment and provide support for patients, but added that she was so thankful to be healthy and fit.

With good health in mind, Kate said that wanted to start 2021 by giving something back to the charities that have helped her in the past.   As a result, she will be shaving her head to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK, and is appealing for the public's help in order to give back to the charities helped her and could be helping them.

She has set up a fundraising page with a target of £500 before she undergoes the hair trimmer and welcomes all and any donations.
