A group of cyclist will be setting off from the borough for the capital later this month to raise money for charity.
The 20 strong group will ride from Ilkeston Market Place heading for Central London on Saturday 25th June in aid of two local charities who work to support local families.
- The Ben Parker Trust Fund, known for their fantastic work as ‘Bens Den’ offers the families of children who are fighting cancer or leukaemia the chance to heal, recuperate and create happy memories in a safe comfortable place (Link to JustGiving page - click here to donate) and;
- The Little Ted Foundation, set up recently by a local family following the sad loss of their baby boy Ted, to cancer in April this year, he was just 16 months old. They aim to provide getaways for families with seriously ill children, and bereaved families following the loss of a child. (Link to GoFundMe page - click here to donate)
The ride is over 150 miles with approx 7,000 feet of climbing, and with the aim to finish outside the gates of Buckingham Palace. The ride will be the furthest most of the riders will have done, and will be challenging to navigate as riding down the M1 will not be an option The day will very testing, both physically and mentally, but all riders say that it will be worth it for two great charities.
Please support if you can, all donations will be greatly appreciated.
