Two friends who set up a Facebook page for crafters during the first lockdown are about to stage their first ever Craft Fair.

Nikki Nelson and Lauren Amber launched 'Ilkestons Creative Hive' to attract budding and active crafters in and around Ilkeston as they felt that everyone needed something else to focus on and concluded that crafting or buying crafts seemed to be something that people loved.

Nikki praised the commitment of local people. She said: "Since we opened the page, we have found so many amazing and talented people in Ilkeston area and the support given by others has been vast.  I can honestly say I'm in awe.   We now have over 1.5k members and there has never been one argument or cross word because crafters are super cool"

The group has been so productive since lockdown began that a request has been received to organise a craft fayre locally for everyone to show off their items, buy and sell and meet people Nikki said had given such joy over what had been very dark months.

She added: "The community has amazingly talented people who have picked themselves up and used their talents to brighten others lives and homes."

The forthcoming event will be held on Sunday 7th November from 1pm to 4pm at the Welcome Hall, St. John's Road, just off Nottingham Road, but this will be followed by a Xmas Fayre on Sunday 5th December at the same venue, again from 1pm to 4pm.  Admission is FREE.
