Several emergency response teams were called to West Hallam on Monday (22nd July) after a blaze broke out in a storage depot.

Eight fire crews were called to the industrial estate on Cat & Fiddle Lane at around 1:30pm including those from Ilkeston and Long Eaton with officers later asking for medical assistance from the Hazardous Area Response Team who arrived on site around 45 minutes later.  Police officers were also in attendance.

Thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the site as fire crews worked to bring the situation under control.  It is not yet known whether there were any injuries as a result of the incident.   A statement from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue service said that the blaze started in a lorry trailer unit  at a storage depot, when a quantity of shrink wrap caught alight.
