The Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team has received further complaints regarding parking issues outside Firfield School in Breaston.
Taking to social media, a statement cited examples as being:
- Dangerous parking on junctions on Firfield Avenue, Sawley Road, Meadow Close, Wilsthorpe Road and the junctions with Belmont Avenue and Maylands Avenue;
- Cars parking on verges, across resident driveways and, on occasions, on their drives; and
- Cars parking on the yellow Zig Zags.
The statment added that this has resulted in near misses with small children on occasions.
Police patrols were carried out on Wednesday afternoon during school closing times when no vehicles were found to be parked dangerously or that had contravened any parking regulations.
A social media correspondent for Derbyshire Police said: "This clearly demonstrates that if parents can park safety when there is a police presence then it shouldn't be a problem to park safely all of the time. There are many other schools in Erewash that suffer with the same issues. Please be considerate when parking, a child's safety has to be the priority."
