New face joins Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Team

Published on: Saturday, 3rd December 2016

The Larklands and Gallows Safer Neighbourhood Team in Ilkeston welcomed a new face to its ranks as of 29th November 2016

PC Alex Hunt has joined the team for an initial three months to replace Dave Bull who has joined a specialist policing team tackling thefts from vans.

Alex is 24 years and used to be a personal trainer in Warwickshire before moving to Derbyshire having successfully applied to join Derbyshire police in June 2014.

Alex said: ”It was a big move for me to move home but I really wanted to join Derbyshire police. I had connections with the county as my grandad lived here and because of that I have always supported Derby County. This is particularly interesting now as I actually live over in Nottinghamshire.”

Since successfully passing his initial training at HQ, Alex has worked as a reactive officer at both Long Eaton and Ilkeston.

He continued: “I am really looking forward to my spell as a Safer Neighbourhood officer as it will get me closer to the community and help me to make a longer term difference to the problems they may be having.

“I know at the moment there is a problem with anti-social behaviour from a small number of young people so this will be one of the things that I will be looking to tackle.”
