On Thursday 18th and Saturday 20th August, the latest RMT strike action, combined with 'work to rule' measures by the TSSA union, will significantly impact rail services across the country, including Northern Rail which runs its services through Ilkeston Railway Station and around the North of England.

The company has issued 'do not travel' advice.

Chief Operating officer, Tricia Williams said: "The combination of RMT strikes and work-to-rule measures by the TSSA Union will make this round of industrial action worse than the two previous occasions this Summer.

"We will only be able to offer less than 100 of the nearly 2,000 services we would normally provide to customers.  We've done everything we can to offer a skeleton service on parts of our network where we are able to, but, unfortunately, our advice has to be 'do not travel', and we apologise in advance for significant disruption and inconvenience this action by the RMT and TSSA will cause.

"We will continue to work towards a resolution to this issue with the hope of avoiding future strikes".
