Ockbrook Redhill WI report for December 2019

Published on: Saturday, 11th January 2020

Erewash Sound is pleased to present the latest round up of news from the Ockbrook Redhill branch of the WI from Susan Maclaine.

During December, there was a carol service at All Saints Church in Ockbrook on December 16th.  The church was full of children and their families, school staff and WI members.  Children from Ockbrook Redhill School participated in the lovely service and we enjoyed their singing and readings.  After the service mince pies, sweets, coffee and soft drinks were served.  The collection raised £198 which was split 3 ways between the Church, Derby Mountain Rescue and The Guide Dog Puppy Sponsorship. Each of these charities received £66.

Also in December, we had an enjoyable Christmas party.  It was a great evening with a Derbyshire quiz, charades, carol singing, Secret Santa pass the parcel and a delicious buffet with food provided by members.  We are grateful to Janet for making the lovely Christmas cake and Ann for her tasty punch.  We ended the evening singing ‘We Wish You A Merry Christmas.’
