Ockbrook has been renamed 'Potbrook' by one social media user whilst reporting that a previously patched part of a local road had begun to break up again.
Huw Morgan took to the Ockbrook & Borrowash Community Group Facebook page to warn road users of an issue in Moor Lane. Using a photograph taken at the time of the last repair in July last year, Mr. Morgan said that the repair had completely come away and expressed concern that the hole could now do serious damage to a car, or to a motorcylist or cyclist, particularly at night when such road surface issues can be more difficult to see.
Respondents used the opportunity to reiterate other areas in the village with one stating that a pot hole in Far Lane, suggested to be a foot deep, had now had road cones and sandbags placed around it whilst another claimed that potholes on Flood Street and Victoria Avenue in Ockbrook were in the process as being fixed, although another said that whilst some had been repaired, others had not.
The latest discussion follows on from others on the same social media page. Previously, another site member suggested that if everyone using Victoria Avenue and Flood Street reported issues to Derbyshire County Council, some action might be taken before further damage or harm was done.
The site showed that some local people had followed a link to the County Council website to report incidents whilst another posted a link on how residents may be able to claim against the authority for car damage. There was also a report of one motorist stating that her car had suffered a puncture after driving over a large pothole in her vehicle but this was again met with reports that contractors were in the area carrying out work.
