NHS Blood and Transplant officials have confirmed that Organ Donation Week 2022 has been rescheduled.

An earlier statement said that all were sad to learn of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and that their thoughts are with the Royal Family.

It added that, due to the timings of the State Funeral and the mourning period for the late Queen, the change was made to the timing of the annual campaign week.

It said: "We know that many people will have put a huge amount of work into planning activity for this very important calendar moment for organ and tissue donation. We want to make sure that we can make the most of our collective efforts, by rescheduling to another date."

After a period of work with relevant Health Departments, it was rescheduled from 19th - 25th September to 26th September to 2nd October.

Officials hope that as may people as possible are able to join in to celebrate the gift of life, and working together to build awareness of the incredible difference organ donation can make.
