Derbyshire Police officials have offered their thanks to a team of volunteers in Sawley for helping the local policing team by being part of the Speedwatch initiative.

On 26th May, PC Taylor, Beat Manager for Sawley, worked with the local Sawley Community Speed Watch volunteers to conduct speed checks on Wilne Road.

Both PC Taylor and Community Speed Watch were out and about educating and enforcing against those driving in excess of the speed limit. A number of vehicles were found to be driving in excess of the Speed Limit which has been dealt with by way of advice letters and also by Traffic Offence Reports. The highest recorded speed by Police was 38mph in a 30mph zone.

The operation aligned with work being done by local police around one of the priorities which is speeding, road safety education and enforcement, set in consultation with local residents with this having been highlighted as an issue of concern in the area.
