Two schools in Erewash are amongst twenty five county wide set to benefit from over a total funding package of £3m for repair and maintenance works courtesy of Derbyshire County Council.

The cash will fund projects such as:

  • Window replacements
  • Door replacements
  • Heating and boiler renewals
  • New roofing

Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Children and Young People Councillor Alex Dale said: “Funding like this is vitally important to help provide a safe, secure and quality environment for children to learn and achieve their potential.

“We’re keen to support schools with projects like these so they can make improvements and prevent the need for costly repairs in the future.

“It also further highlights our commitment to helping our children have the best start in life.”

Draycott Primary School will see a second phase of replacing slate roof coverings costing £175,000, whilst Long Eaton-based Grange Primary School will have its boiler renewed at a cost of £55,000.  Elsewhere, children from the borough who attend Mapperley Primary School will be able to walk on improved floor structures with a new slab scheme being installed there at a cost of £70,000.
