The value of warm spaces in the community was more than demonstrated recently when one vulnerable adult popped into a local drop in facility.
Warm Spaces, funded by Derbyshire County Council, have been set up throughout the community to help those who are struggling to heat their homes, are lonely or vulnerable or just need someone to talk to.
On Friday 5th May, one man attended the Warm Space set up at Butt Street Methodist Church in Sandiacre to seek help and approached PCSOs Hawksworth and Cooper to talk about the issues he was facing.
He spoke of his severe financial difficulties, that he had no food and was in a dire situation, and that it had taken a huge effort for him to reach out for help.
In response, the two PCSOs instantly liaised with the local Community Hub who jumped to the rescue, offering the individual a warm meal and company on Coronation Day and they prepared him a food parcel to take away.
Officers then visited his home, contacted adult social care immediately and completed the necessary referrals for him. They have since had contact from Derbyshire Social Services who are progressing the necessary help and assistance he needs.

On this occasion a huge thanks to the volunteers who organise and manage the Butt St Methodist and St Giles Church Community Hubs for their speedy support and help, thank you."
