Ashbrook Primary School pupils help raise money for Treetops Hospice

Over 3,500 children from primary schools and community groups across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire have helped raise over £17,200 for local charity Treetops Hospice.

The children took part in the hospice’s annual Reindeer Dash over winter. For the festive fundraiser, they donned reindeer antlers and completed obstacle courses, played reindeer football match, danced at discos, or simply dressed up for the day.

Treetops Community Engagement Officer, Amy Sykes, thanked everyone who’d taken part. She said: “We’re so thrilled to announce the final total raised in the Reindeer Dash and we want to thank everyone who’s been involved.

“It was wonderful to see the children with their reindeer antlers, having fun whilst raising money for a great cause. The proceeds raised helps the hospice to provide bereavement support for children and young people. The amount raised will help fund over 500 counselling sessions which will really help children struggling after the death of a loved one.“

The Reindeer Dash will return this Christmas and Treetops welcomes more schools and community organisations to take part.

This year, Treetops Hospice is celebrating 40 years of caring for people and their families in the local community. During this time, the hospice has supported thousands of patients with end-of-life nursing care and bereavement counselling.
