13/10/2018: The Stop HS2 campaign has dismissed the route proposed for Phase 2b of HS2 is the “most destructive and cheapest option”, stating that the proposed scheme would displace more jobs than it creates, knock down over 1,000 homes and businesses, and go through 12 miles of flood risk areas and 12 SSSIs and 9 ancient woodlands, which has prompted the Woodland Trust to respond by saying “This is far worse than we were expecting”.
13/10/2018: Following the release of HS2b Working draft environmental statement, Stop HS2 Erewash is calling for an urgent government review of HS2 phase B in the East Midlands in light of suggested spiralling costs and greater impacts than were first proposed.

31/08/2018: An email sent from the Conservative Leader of Erewash Borough Council to a council official and copied to Councillors reveals what prospective MP Catherine Atkinson said was the Erewash Conservative MP’s attempt to stop the Council consulting on HS2 compensation and exposes what she suggested was splits in the Erewash Conservative Party on this important issue.
25/06/2018: Labour Councillors in Erewash are pushing for a clearer position on whether the Conservative controlled Erewash Borough Council is in favour of HS2 and has detailed plans to call for greater support for those it says will be affected.
22/05/2018: Erewash MP Maggie Throup is urging all interested parties to contribute to the Government’s new consultation on a Property Price Support Scheme (PPSS) for homes affected by HS2.
