Angling: NISA Feeders Midweek Open Matches Results and Reports week commencing 14th September

Erewash Sound SPORT brings you a round up of local and regional angling action including borough anglers - this time, for week commencing 14th September 2020.

EVENT: Wednesday “NISA Feeders” Open Match

Report: The cold NE wind and high pressure had moved the bulk of the fish into the high numbers on the A bank, although shoals could be seen over the whole lake at times during the day. 

Phil Godwin on peg A13, fishing the lake for the first time, enjoyed an excellent day.  He caught decent carp steadily throughout on pellet wager fished four feet deep and put 113-08 on the scales for a clear win.

On the opposite bank on peg B20, John Adamson caught small carp and bream for the first 90 minutes on method feeder, then had a long blank spell before slightly bigger fish (he had nothing over about five pounds) returned in the last hour to lift his total to 81-02 for second place.

Alan Marshall on peg B1 took third place with 70-14, which included over twenty pounds of skimmer bream.  He had two big carp on method feeder, with the remainder of his catch coming to pole and pellet.

Gordon Hitchin just missed out on the prizes with a fourth placed 70-02 from peg B14, again all of his fish falling to pole and pellet, including some big carp taken in the latter stages from the margins.

Mick Chapman’s fifth placed 65-08 included fish taken on method feeder, pellet waggler and pole, while Pete Wood’s 54-14 from A11 were all caught on the pellet waggler.

NB.  ‘NISA Feeders’ Opens are at Makins Phase 1 every Wednesday. You must book in before 10pm the previous evening (Facebook – Nisa midweek open matches), draw in car park 8:30am-9am, fishing 10:30am-4:30pm.

VENUE: DERWENT, THAMES AND AVON
DATE: 17 SEPTEMBER 2020
RESULT: 
1st: Gaz WOOD (The Pellet Guys) 107-05
2nd: Ben LOCKWOOD (Tackle Shack) 79-05
3rd: Steve DOHERTY (Coalville) 73-08
4th: Jamie WARD (Makins) 69-14
5th: Keith HUDSON (Raygill Tackle) 65-09
6th: Bob GREENBURY (Drennan Leicester) 65-02
7th: Paul REYNOLDS (Nuneaton) 59-06
8th: John ADAMSON (NISA Feeders) 48-14
9th: Dave HICKEN (Disco) 46-15
10th: Mick TIMSON (Makins) 41-13
Number of pegs: 23 (paid top two on each lake and top 4 overall).

Report: Although the match was fished over three lakes all were quite even with the top three all fishing separate lakes as did the next three places, with all the top six receiving money.

Winner on the day was Gaz Wood who, returning to the matches after a short break continued where he left off. On Avon peg 18, Gaz caught early  fishing close to the island on paste, then later from the margins on other baits to put 107-05 on the scales for a clear win.

Ben Lockwood, another angler on top form, drew Derwent 29, and caught his 79-05 for second overall (plus lake win) mainly from his margins.

Steve Doherty (Thames 9) caught from his margins on worm to total 73-08 for third overall and a lake win, followed by Jamie Ward (Derwent peg 2) with 69-14 for fourth overall and second lake money.

The other money winners were fifth placed Keith Hudson with 65-09 which took second on Thames from peg 17, and sixth placed Bob Greenbury whose 65-02 from Avon 5 gave him second on the lake.

Next week’s Thursday match is also scheduled for Phase Three (24th September).

NB.  ‘NISA Feeders’ Opens are at Makins Phases 2 or 3 every Thursday. You must book in before 10pm the previous evening (Facebook – Nisa midweek open matches), draw in car park on phase being fished 8:30am-9am, fishing 10:30am-4:30pm.
