Report: The brisk wind switched from SW to NW but the rain showers, some very heavy, continued to hit throughout the day, and with mainly the bigger fish showing bites were hard to come by.

On peg B19, Chris Wayte fished similarly but had to settle for second place as his big carp catch went 72-14, with Mick Chapman (becoming an A20 specialist) putting 68-14 on the scales for third place, mostly taken on pole and pellet fished short.

Shaun Weed’s fourth placed 62-08 was taken on pole and pellet from peg A13, John Adamson in fifth with 58-08 caught on method feeder from peg A8, Stuart Gould in sixth with 50-10 from A15 catching mainly on the pole.

Report: Anglers had to contend with a strong and bitterly cold SW wind as well as rain showers throughout the day, although the sun also shone on occasions.  Once again, with the match fished over two lakes, both lakes fished similarly, producing a decent match with close results, each lake producing two of the top four placed anglers.

Top weight of 71-10 was taken by Keith Hudson from Avon peg 22.  Keith caught very little during the first half of the match but by concentrating on his margins tempted carp throughout the second half on sweet corn bait.

Mick Timson on Severn peg 21 was second with 54-05.  Mick caught the bulk of his fish from his right margin to win his lake, narrowly pushing Steve Doherty (Severn peg 16) who had 52-08 on pellet, into third place overall and second on the lake.

Fourth place was filled by Pete Eden from Avon peg 25 with 51-04 of mainly margin caught carp, which took second lake prize, with the ever-consistent Bob Greenbury fifth overall with 45-05 from Severn peg 18 taking third prize on his lake.

The final prize winner was Terry Cockburn whose 42-03 from Avon peg 4 secured him third place on his lake.

Next Thursday (1st October) the match is again on Phase Three on Severn & Avon, with Thames also available if needed. Bread may also be used as a bait.
