Erewash Sound SPORT brings you the results and reports from angling action including borough and regional action - week commencing 5th October.

EVENT: Wednesday “NISA Feeders” Open Match
VENUE: LAKE TWO
DATE:  7 OCTOBER 2020
RESULT:
1st: Kev WALTERS (Team Makins) 85-00
2nd: Aaron MORTON (Maver Gold) 72-11
3rd: Terry PHILLIPS (Attleborough Anglers) 63-13
4th: John ADAMSON (NISA Feeders) 53-02
5th: Mark JAQUES (Tackle Shack) 48-03
6th: Mitch MILLER (Makins) 33-12
Number of pegs: 18 (Paid top four)

Report: The weather was much cooler after the several days of rain, and the cool breeze varied from SW to NW during the day.  However, there remained decent colour in the water and there were fish caught from most areas although the shallower parts of the lake (the early A numbers) struggled.

Kev Walters, on peg A13, again kept everything simple and fished bomb and pellet all day to catch decent sized carp for a weight of 85-00 and the win.

On peg A20 (again), Aaron Morton caught on method feeder, waggler, long and short pole for his 72-11 and second place, but admitted that several lost fish cost him the win.

Terry Phillips (peg A15) weighed in with 63-13 for third place, and caught all of his carp on the method feeder with pellet bait.  Top weight on the “B” bank was John Adamson (peg B21) with 53-02, which narrowly took the fourth placed prize with Mark Jaques (B17) putting 48-03 on the scales for fifth, catching his fish on bomb and pellet and later on pole from the margins.

Mitch Miller was sixth with 33-12 from peg B11, just ahead of Mick Timson’s 29-03 from peg B13, and Eric Yeoman’s 29-02 from A9.

NB.  ‘NISA Feeders’ Opens are at Makins Phase 1 every Wednesday. You must book in before 10pm the previous evening (Facebook – Nisa midweek open matches), draw in car park 8:30am-9am, fishing 10:30am-4:30pm.

Number of pegs: 21 (Paid top three each Lake, top four overall)

Report: In spite of the strong, cold and gusting wind and rain showers, both lakes fished reasonably well with fish caught from all areas.

Andy Searle continued on top form and produced 123-07 from Avon peg 21 for a clear win.  Andy caught the bulk of his fish on punched bread fished against the far bank shrubbery in sheltered water, and had carp of all sizes and skimmer bream.

Another angler in top form filled second place.  Bob Greenbury on Avon peg 4 caught in the early stages on pellet from various areas of his swim before a switch to his right margin produced several big carp, all falling to corn bait.  His left margin produced nothing.

Third place also came from Avon, with Gaz Wood on bridge peg 25 putting 70-09 on the scales, most of his fish falling to pellet.

Three of the next four were on Severn.  Steve Haywood on peg 21 took the fourth overall prize and won his lake with 69-04, catching the bulk of his fish in very shallow water only a foot deep on pellet, Steve Bull (sixth overall) taking lake second from peg 11 with 66-04 of small carp and skimmers (pellet as bait and catching from the point of the island and his left margin), Jonny Harvey third on the lake from peg 25 with a pellet caught 59-12, again of mainly small carp.

Sean Huggins on Avon peg 8 came fifth overall with 67-07 taken mainly on meat.

Next week (Thursday 15 October) will again be on Phase Three, using Thames, the Avons and Severn.
