Angling: Thursday “NISA Feeders” Open Match - 13th August 2020

The match was moved from Phase Two to Phase Three because of lake maintenance on the former, and fished on Derwent and Thames to produce another superb match, which in spite of having three “no weighs”, each of whom returned close to 50 lbs of fish, still averaged 55-10 per angler.  Had the others weighed their catches is would have averaged around 70-00.

Report: The match was moved from Phase Two to Phase Three because of lake maintenance on the former, and fished on Derwent and Thames to produce another superb match, which in spite of having three “no weighs”, each of whom returned close to 50 lbs of fish, still averaged 55-10 per angler.  Had the others weighed their catches is would have averaged around 70-00.

Once again it was the in-form Ben Lockwood that dominated the result with a magnificent 143-12 from Thames peg 11.  Ben caught early on pellet fished towards the island and then late on when fish after fish graced his net from his margins, all on sweet corn bait.

Second overall and winning the other lake on Derwent peg 29 was Johnny Jenkins with 109-03.  Johnny caught on hard banded pellet mainly fished towards the island.

Third place fell to another in-form angler, Gaz Wood, who fishing his trusty paste tight to the island put another “ton” on the scales to take second lake money and third overall with 101-08.

Steve Doherty took second on Derwent and fourth overall with 90-11 from peg 8, and included 35 lbs of bream (chopped worm and caster) alongside his pellet caught carp, with 5th placed Kevin Arathoon taking third placed Thames money with 83-15 from peg 7 (pellet over then corn from the margins) and Richard Canning in sixth taking third placed Derwent money from peg 14 with a pellet caught 83-03.

Next week (Thursday 20 August) we are on Thames, Derwent & Severn again.

NB.  ‘NISA Feeders’ Opens are at Makins Phases 2 or 3 every Thursday. You must book in before 10pm the previous evening (Facebook – Nisa midweek open matches), draw in car park on phase being fished 8:30am-9am, fishing 10:30am-4:30pm.
