Report: The 2020 LEVAS Championships round six, which was also for the H Mountney Memorial Trophy, was fished at Robinwood Lakes on Lake One on Sunday 10 July, on a hot and sunny day.  As Lake One is also sheltered from the wind, it was a very hot and still day indeed, and many fishing really struggled to get bites.

The exception was Andy Buckle on peg 12, who managed to tempt carp to around five pounds by casting a pellet feeder to the islands/reed beds with luncheon meat as bait.  His 23-05 final weight made him a clear winner.

On peg 47 Rob Pembridge, in complete contrast, set his stall out for “silvers”, and caught smallish fish of a variety of species on caster for his second placed 15-07.

Ivan Carrier on peg 14 had a few early silvers on pole before switching to rod and feeder, which enabled him to add several decent “skimmers” and a couple of carp, one of which he managed to extract from the middle of a bed of lilies, enabling him to put 13-14 on the scales for third place.

Dave Kent (peg 8) was fourth from peg 8 with 10-09, enabling him to take the lead in the Championships, with John Adamson (peg 39) with 8-01 in fifth, and Steve Warrener (peg 6) with 5-13 in sixth filling the rest of the top six places.

After six rounds the Championship Leaders are: Dave Kent 85 points, Keith White 84, John Adamson 82, Mick Lager 81, Les Smedley 77 and Dave Cotterill 71.

The next match, as well as being Championship Round Seven, is also for the R S Kirkland Cup and will be the Annual Outing match.  Because of the Covid-19 restrictions there will be no after match meal, but there will be a “free breakfast cob” before the match for those that want it.  The match will be at Blake Hall Fishery on the Blake Lake, book in with Dave Kent if you wish to fish.
