Thursday NISA Feeders Open Match - 1st April 2021

The first match this year (after “Lockdown”) and the final NISA Feeders open match at Makins Fishery went off very successfully with 25 anglers fishing over three lakes.   Unfortunately the weather failed to co-operate, and after the previous day’s blistering sun, it was a bitterly cold and overcast day with a strong NE wind.  At least it remained dry.

Report: The first match this year (after “Lockdown”) and the final NISA Feeders open match at Makins Fishery went off very successfully with 25 anglers fishing over three lakes.  Unfortunately the weather failed to co-operate, and after the previous day’s blistering sun, it was a bitterly cold and overcast day with a strong NE wind.  At least it remained dry.

Simon Skelton moaned about his peg (Severn 29) before the match but was quiet afterwards after catching 121-05 of carp and bream, all falling to pellet.  This secured overall first and a lake win.

On Avon peg 19, Chris Pridmore also had a superb day, and fishing soft pellet caught mainly carp for his 95-14 for second place and a lake win.  On Avon 22, Mick White reported that he had a frustrating day as he could see carp feeding in his margins but failed to catch them. He did, however, catch several in other areas of his swim and put 73-05 on the scales for second on his lake and third overall.

Gaz Wood took fourth place overall and second on Severn from peg 11 with 65-14.  Having caught very little at the halfway stage he mixed up some paste, and soon caught carp by fishing short (both sides).

Jake Hemmings won Thames from peg 11 with 64-10 (went over the 60 lb limit on his carp net which cost him fourth place overall).  Jake caught on pellets fished mainly to his right, adding fish from other areas of his swim when the main area went quiet, and there was a tie for the second lake payment between Steve Crocker (Thames 13) and Ryan Stephens (Thames 17), who both weighed 57-14.

Thanks go to all who have fished the opens at Makins Fishery over the years, and for the kind remarks received by the organiser John Adamson who said: "I look forward to seeing many on my new project – NISA Feeders Wednesday “Affordable” Open matches at Meadowlands fishery (on the seven acres Lambsdown Lake) commencing on 7 April (book in by Monday evening)."

NB.  ‘NISA Feeders’ Opens are at Meadowlands Fishery every Wednesday. You must book a place before 10pm the previous Monday evening (see Facebook: Nisa - midweek open matches), draw in car park 8:30am-9:00am, fishing 10:30am-4:30pm.
