Long Eaton put in a strong performance for bonus point win

Long Eaton Rugby achieved yet another bonus point win in their match against Ashby on Saturday 2nd March, winning 31-5.

The team started well with a break from Captain Del Veenendaal, who threatened Ashby’s defensive line throughout the game. The strong start reflected the rest of the match, as Long Eaton dominated, scoring five tries throughout.

One of the highlights for Long Eaton was their set-piece performance in the line-out, maul and scrum, which led to a penalty try in the second half following constant scrum pressure on Ashby’s five-metre line.

Try scorers were Luke Bouchier, Mike Hawksworth, Oli Davidson and Lewis Giddings, with three conversions from Rory Morgan-Williams.

Stand out performances came from Ryan Beresford who returned to the pitch after a long spell of injury and both second rows Harry Cotterill and Josh Brookes stood out in the engine room of the pack. Josh was awarded Man of the Match.

Long Eaton travel away to Dronfield this coming Saturday 9th March, who are currently placed second in the league, in what is set to be a defining match.  The team are currently placed third.
