Appeal for witnesses launched following serious crash in Breadsall Hilltop

Derbyshire Police officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a serious crash in Breadsall Hilltop which left a pedestrian injured.

Officers were called to reports that a van was in collision with a man in Scarborough Rise at about 4:15pm on Friday 19th December.

A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.

Officers have made extensive enquiries and a man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Daniel Calladine (35) of Breadsall Hilltop, has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving a motor vehicle whilst above the legal alcohol limit and two counts of driving a motor vehicle whilst under the influence of drugs.

He appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday 22nd December and was bailed with conditions to appear at Derby Crown Court on Monday 19th January.

Detectives are still appealing for information however as there were a number of witnesses who saw the incident and have not yet spoken to officers.

Anyone who saw what happened but has yet to speak to officers is being asked to make contact as soon as possible.
