Ilkeston Police officers have described an altercation between two men in the town as an ‘isolated incident’.

A response was directed to Wilton Place in the town and arrived within six minutes of officers receiving a call just before 11:30am on Friday 15th August.

One man, in his 50s, sustained a minor arm injury, and was taken to hospital for treatment, with an injury thought to have been caused by a knife which was subsequently recovered.

High visibility patrols have been carried out with two cordons set up around the time, one soon removed, another staying in place into the afternoon.

A statement said the two men involved were known to each other.

The update comes after officers were called to reports that a man had been injured during a separate altercation in the town on Thursday 14th August, which occurred around 12:15pm and involved three men.

The victim was found to have suffered a punch to the mouth. Ambulance staff spoke to the man who was found to have suffered a minor injury, but he refused further care.

Enquiries have been ongoing into the identities of those involved in the incident.
