‘Move On’ event to support 16-24 year olds into work, further education or training: 27th August

Do you know a young person aged 16-24 who needs support planning their next steps into learning, training or work?

Derbyshire County Council is holding a series of Youth Employment Support (YES) events during July and August 2026 where experts will be on hand to provide information, advice and guidance on:

• Employment opportunities
• training and qualifications
• apprenticeships
• volunteering
• wellbeing support
• employability skills
• careers advice and planning
• skills building
• confidence and motivation

A series of ‘Move on’ events will see the YES team offering support following exam results or for next steps planning. These sessions will include one locally on Thursday 27th August at Ilkeston Library from 11:00am to 4:00pm.

There is no need to book in advance, young people can drop-in on the day.

Councillor Stephen Reed, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Business Services, said: “With exam season drawing to a close, some young people may be unsure about what to do next, while others may have decided that the path their career or learning was taking wasn’t for them.

“Whatever the circumstances, our Youth Employment Support service can help. Our qualified and experienced advisers are here to support young people who don’t currently have a job, training or learning placement to find a new path, by helping them to gain the skills, tools and confidence needed to take their next steps into work or education.”
