RSC radio edit

Kirsty Corbett from Sunday Breakfast chats with Nottingham-born actor Shalisha James-Davis discusses starring as Portia in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Julius Caesar, alongside Dame Harriet Walter and Jackie Clune. Shalisha reflects on returning to her roots as the RSC brings its First Encounters programme to a Nottinghamshire school, giving young people the chance to experience professional Shakespeare in their own school hall. She explores why taking theatre beyond traditional venues is so important, the power of representation on stage, and the lasting impact of performing for audiences in schools and prisons. The full interview is on the Arts & Toast podcast. Julius Caesar will open at the RSC in Stratford and has been directed by Phil Lloyd who originally directed this production back in 2012. It’ll open on 5 November and will run until 28 November 2026. Tickets are onsale now for this thought provoking performance via the RSC website, rsc.org.uk.
