Ilkeston boy Oscar raises over £2,000 for MND through his 77-day walking challenge

A 7-year old Ilkeston boy is on a mission to make to make a difference to people affected by Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Oscar’s fundraising journey started with a simple but incredibly kind idea. He wanted to donate his own pocket money to help people living with MND and from that little idea, something amazing has grown.

Oscar originally set himself the challenge of walking for 7 days, with a fundraising target of just £77. However, his determination to help others inspired him to keep going, and he decided to extend his challenge to 77 days of walking to raise as much money and awareness as possible for the MND Association.

Charlene Domleo said: “Oscar is autistic, and his journey has shown so much kindness, determination and compassion. He shares daily updates on social media, allowing people to follow his walks and see his personality shine through.

“He is simply being himself and showing that even the smallest actions can make a big difference.”

His fundraising total has now passed £2,000, far exceeding his original target. He has also received a personal video message from Sir Kevin Sinfield, which has been a very special moment in his journey.

What started with a little boy wanting to donate his pocket money has grown into something much bigger. Oscar is raising awareness of MND, encouraging kindness and showing other children that you are never too young to make a difference.

Oscar continues to walk, share his journey and encourage people to support the MND Association. His story is reaching people far beyond Ilkeston, and the hope is that by continuing to spread his message, there is a chance to reach new supporters and raise as much money as possible for this important cause.
