Stanley Common-based micro-business listed as awards finalist

The owner of a Stanley Common-based micro business has been speaking after it was listed as a finalist at an awards event to take place in the West Midlands in early November.

Sarah Banks has been running her company for 12 years, but in that time, has experienced a difficult path, battling mental health challenges and having suffered a breakdown in 2020. She said: “I’m still here and supporting my clients in the way that is right for me.”

Her Business Solutions firm has been put forward as finalist for an WeirdAF award at a ceremony to be held in Coventry on Wednesday 4th November. The event is being described as a “get-together for founders who refuse to conform”, and one seeking to veer away from being a “stiff black-tie dinner” or a “snooze-fest of categories”, adding that it is a “bold, vibrant day for the rule breakers, category creators and brilliantly different.”

Sarah is in with a chance of a ‘”Not a D*ck” Award’. Category listings describe it as being “For the one with the big heart. The kindest soul in the wild west. They are heart centred, deliciously generous and in every room people say something nice about them. That doesn’t make them soft, in fact it’s their biggest strength and their reputation walks ahead of them in every room.”

Sarah said: “My mission from day 1 of my business has been to operate with integrity, work with intuition and meet my clients where they are and I feel that this award category really sums that up.

“I’ve been in business for 12 years and because I haven’t followed the traditional paths I’ve not been able to be part of other awards which is why being a finalist at WeirdAF means so much to me as it recognises that there is more than one way to do business.”
