Derby Theatre to host National Theatre's Connections Festival for the East Midlands Erewash Sound
Erewash MP Maggie Throup has contacted officials at Derbyshire County Council to express her concern over road conditions through an iconic and well used part of the borough.
Following three serious road traffic accidents along Lows Lane in Stanton-by-Dale, Ms Throup is calling for the road lighting to be improved.
On a recent visit, she noted at least nine lamp posts that are no longer in service because they were historically powered and maintained by the former Stanton & Staveley Ironworks, but with the issue leaving Lows Lane – a busy thoroughfare between Ilkeston, the south of the borough and the M1 corridor – in darkness.
With a risk of further road traffic accidents and the significant increase in the amount of traffic using the road, including both commuters and heavy goods vehicles, the MP has written to the County Council to ask them to either adopt or replace the lamp posts and restore street lighting to the area as a matter or urgency.
